Highland Games in Argyll

Argyll is famous for its festivals; highland games, highland dancing, and Scottish country music, to name a few. If you plan to visit during these times, you are strongly advised to book your accommodation well in advance as during the festivals there is an over whelming demand for accommodation. The festivals are all very well attended and people come from far and wide as these festivals are an established part of the Scottish festivals calendar. Most of the festivals have highland games, highland dancing, and music.


Argyllshire Gathering, Oban

The Argyllshire Gathering is one of the oldest of the Highland Gatherings in Scotland. It is held every year, usually on the fourth Thursday of August. The Gathering is renowned for its highland games and music. The next Gathering will be held on August 28, 2008 at Oban. Prices: adults £6.00, children £2.00 and car parking £2.00.

Brodick Highland Games

Traditional Highland Games featuring Heavyweights, Light Field Events, Running, Solo Piping, Tug-of-War, and Wrestling are held annually. Cowal Highland Gathering

The traditional Cowal Highland Games are held annually on the last Friday and Saturday of August each year at the Stadium in Dunoon.
